pencil sketch?

Years ago I decided to switch to only drawing in ink to force myself to have to commit to every stroke. It was good because it meant that if I started to overwork a drawing I would have to start over again completely from scratch... which usually resulted in a fresher sketch and it forced me to learn from my mistakes. This weekend I found myself with a pencil in hand for the first time in years and started scribbling away. The experience was both very strange and very natural at the same time. I still prefer ink because Pencil is too fragile... its heartbreaking to see a beautiful sketch get smeared away into a vague blob.

Queen's Blade "トモエ" painting

I did a more polished and painterly version but it seemed to lifeless so I added the thick black ink strokes back in. I'm still not sure how I feel about the green in the background. It definitely makes her pop but it adds a sickly color contrast to the painting.

Study for Queen's Blade painting

I really enjoyed the hellboy style queen's blade painting I did last week so I did some studies for a new one this weekend. Hopefully I'll find the time to finish it...

DVD sketches: Duel

I came across one of my old sketchbooks this weekend while cleaning and realized I used to sketch every day. I'm determined to get back in the habit... so I got up early this morning to have some time to sketch before work.
